(1) Of all the impossible occurrences in Fantastic Four, none seems as implausible as scientist Reed Richards's scheme to make billions of dollars by studying the human genome through the exposure of plants - yes, plants - to cosmic rays.(2) They are based on an array of budget devices and implausible assumptions that mask hundreds of billions of dollars of tax reductions and government expenditures that are virtually certain to occur but are omitted from the budget.(3) If it seems implausible to some, no matter: implausibility can never be accepted as a bar to evangelism even if it constitutes a barrier to faith.(4) Science fiction cinema is no stranger to implausible robots, running the full gamut from implausibly cool to implausibly terrible.(5) Presumably money lenders do keep lots of cash in and about the house, but on the face of it 2.3 million in sterling seems an implausibly excessive amount to keep in a compost bin at the bottom of your garden in Cork!(6) So that it will not all be unremittingly bleak and sordid, the women in the film are dressed very interestingly and flatteringly and beautifully, and the men's uniforms are implausibly crisp and clean, until the end.(7) Even more implausibly they both started talking in perfect English: u2018Oh look!u2019(8) With few exceptions, literary attempts to encapsulate the early years of life have tended to sound either implausibly precocious or excessively dumb.(9) The big bad company offers quite a good deal in the end, brokered by implausibly competent and honest lawyers.
