(1) Present along the surface exposures of the anticline are rocks dating from Upper Cretaceous to Paleocene age.(2) In this locality, the top 20 m of the Asmari Limestone exhibits palaeo-weathering along joints suggesting subaerial exposure of the Asmari near the crest of an anticline .(3) From the maps presented in Figure 2, it is apparent that the well tested the crest of an anticline that formed during the Cenozoic.(4) The field evidence includes the presence of several longitudinal extensional folds such as a rollover anticline and drag folds that are related to normal faults in the area.(5) In its hanging wall, however, a drag fold syncline and a rollover anticline developed.(6) This mechanical failure results in a topographic valley along the crest of the anticline .(7) Polygon boundaries coincide with anticlinal ridges on the interface between the faulted sequence and an underlying 35 m thick low velocity, low density, overpressured layer.(8) Low-grade volcanic and sedimentary rocks are widely exposed within this elongate anticlinal window.(9) Large-scale geological structures including anticlines , synclines, thrusts and faults formed during the Caledonian Orogeny typically trend in a SW-NE direction.(10) Folds associated with intraformational faults in the Tertiary mudstones of the southernmost North Sea show a similar asymmetry, with anticlines locally developing into diapiric structures.(11) The salt continued moving along lines of least resistance and began to push upward, bowing up the overlying sedimentary rocks to form the classic elongated anticlinal structure.(12) Its topography, represented by the alleged anticlines and synclines of Rosenkrantz, is instead an expression of the original sea-floor topography.(13) This mountain illustrates both anticlinal and synclinal folding and the way in which the two different fold types react to weathering and erosion.(14) These metamorphic and plutonic igneous rocks form the uplifted core of the broadly anticlinal Owl Creek Mountains, a mountain range that formed during the Late Cretaceous.(15) The displacement of the thrust sheet produces two anticlines and a syncline.(16) However, as the thrust sheets grow, the outer area of their anticlinal crest is extended.
